At the moment it is not a legal requirement. There are certain forms of legislation in place for companies of a certain size - mandatory greenhouse gas reporting, SECR and ESOS all capture larger organisations.
However, the closer we get to 2050, the more likely it is that formal legislation comes in that captures all companies. The expectation is that the existing remit widens and takes in more and more businesses.
