What are the benefits?

Sponsoring trees through Tree in a Million puts your contribution into a UK reforestation project with published outcomes, run with the Forest of Marston Vale Trust. The campaign target is 10,000 trees over five years and an additional £1,000,000 of benefit to the UK.

The Forest of Marston Vale Trust publishes four annual figures for what the Forest delivers: 4,917 tonnes of CO2 removed from the atmosphere, £4.95m saved by the NHS each year, 167 full-time-equivalent jobs supported locally, and £6.91m added to the visitor economy annually. So the benefit is carbon, health, employment and local economy together, not carbon alone.

Organisations take part for three published reasons: as part of a corporate social responsibility drive, as a contribution towards mitigating a company carbon footprint, or - for individuals - to balance a personal impact. Private planting events are also used as team days: a half day at the planting site with full supervision, food and refreshments for up to 15 people. NCZ clients planted over 1,000 trees at those events in February 2024.

Sponsorship is not a carbon offset and is not presented as one. It is a contribution to a named UK planting project with published benefit figures, which is a different and more checkable claim than a retired credit. Where unavoidable residual emissions need balancing, that is what NCZ carbon credits are for, and they are a separate service.
